DAC report for truck drivers is being used against us

    12/06/2019

The DAC report which is now handled by Hire Right is a report used by companies to report on your behavior and the things you do at a company.  It is kind of like a credit report of how you did at your job.  Now, more and more I am seeing companies using this against drivers by reporting things that are not accurate.  I am sure companies would say it is just an honest mistake but we all know that to be a BIG FAT LIE.  When a company reports a truck abandonment on your DAC, it can be difficult to get another job.  What can be done about it?  You should write a demand letter to remove it and send it certified.  If that does not work you may need a lawyer to get involved and you may even need to sue them.  It is just another way that truck drivers are being taken advantage of in the industry.  We work without pay and then get hosed on leaving a job. What is the best trucking company to work for today?

    21/05/2019

I get asked all the time what the best trucking company to drive for is right now.  Well, it depends.  I need to know a little about you to see what kind of life you want and how much money you want to make or need to make.  Also, its important just to see if trucking is going to be right for you.  Trucking is not for everyone and if you are just in it because you are unemployed you may not last.  Don't just jump into the first company that brings pizza to your truck school.  It is important to do your research and get with a company that you will stay with because moving around companies will make it difficult to get a good job and may prevent you from getting any trucking job. Is $100,000 a year possible driving a truck?  Yes it is if you are willing to do what it takes to make that money.  I'm not so I don't make six figures.  Are you?  Many drivers tell me they will do anything but in fact they won't.  If you are unwilling to do what it takes you cannot complain you don't make that money.  Again, it is no

FMCSA HOS announcement is coming June 7! Or is it?

    16/05/2019

The FMCSA is set to announce on June 7 the revised HOS rules they will be using going forward.  After that is a 49 day comment period and then they can go into effect.  Unfortunately, because of the government shutdown the FMCSA now says that the OMB is behind reviewing things and the announcement may be delayed.  Also, they said that they anticipate lawsuits from safety groups and the actual implementation date is still up in the air.  UGH. I also want to touch on the fact that many drivers have been asking for a few hours to be added to the day for traffic or whatever.  This is not the answer.  Companies will use this as unpaid time for the drivers.  Stop fighting to work more with no pay!  Its ridiculous.  Make more, don't work more.  If I could I would make the day 12 hours max. Colorado Truck accident driver charged with 40 counts, Falcon Transport shuts down for good

    04/05/2019

The tragic truck accident in Colorado was in the news again today as the driver was charged with 40 counts.  Good.  He says it was an accident but we may never know as the truck burned to the ground along with many other vehicles.  This driver has over a year of experience.  That would be enough to be a trainer at some companies like Schneider and England.  I think that eventually he will plead guilty to a charge or two and get some time in jail and then be deported.  He is here legally on a Green Card which allows him to work. Falcon Transport closed its doors for good as well.  Drivers were stranded around the country but only about 80 of them.  Some companies, like ShipEx, stepped up to the plate and offered transportation home and food to the drivers with no obligation.  Thank you.  That is how trucking should be.  For the executives that closed Falcon, may you forever be spit upon by truckers everywhere.  Unfortunately, people like this mostly just go on with their lives and nothing happens to them. • Get the driver manual before you go to work for a trucking company

Get the driver manual before you go to work for a trucking company

    23/04/2019

No matter if you are new to the trucking industry or have been driving since before dirt, it is important to get a copy of the driver manual of the company you are going to go work for.  Get the manual before you agree to work there and read it cover to cover.  It seems boring but it is very important.  Drivers have been sending me manuals that have all kinds of charges in them and weird rules that no one tells you about before you go to work there.  After you get there it is nearly too late.  Then you would have to quit and usually find your own way home as well.  Save yourself the headache and get the manual upfront.  If they won't give it to you that should tell you what you need to know.  You are going to have to follow it, why won't they show it to you? Are you ready to get into the trucking industry but don't want to spend a hundred hours researching which company is good and how to do it?  I can help get you where you need to go.  Make trucking your career.  LINK A knife is an indispensable tool but a

Trucker shutdown is here but I have the real solution to change the trucking industry.

    12/04/2019

Today is the trucker shutdown and nothing is happening as far as I can tell.  Listen, stopping traffic for the general public is a bad idea and you should not do it.  Do you want change in the industry?  Stop working for free.  Really.  I go in to how to actually make the industry change and pay us truck drivers for all of our time.  Any company that has drivers and expects them to work without pay should hang their head in shame.  To profit from slavery is immoral. New database drivers must register in to change driving jobs starting January 2020

    02/04/2019

The CDL drug and alcohol clearinghouse takes effect January 2020.  What is that you say?  Every driver as part of the hiring process will have to have their record checked through this database.  The database contains information on failed and refused drug tests.  If you are going to be changing jobs from January 2020 forward you will need to be registered in this database so the company you are applying to can check your drug test record.  Only positive tests and drug test refusals will be recorded.  As part of the hiring process you will need to give your consent for the company to check your record on this database.  To do that you must already be registered.  You can register beginning in October of this year.  Since this is run by the government I am sure everything will go very smoothly and there will be absolutely no problems whatsoever.  As it is worded, after January 2020 if a company cannot search you on this database they cannot hire you to drive interstate.  I don't know how long or involved the s

ATA Technology Council meeting says drivers are not interested in pay, just nicer trucks.

    28/03/2019

In a recent meeting of the ATA technology council, it was noted by many speakers that drivers don't really need more pay, what they really need is a nicer truck.  Things like a cell phone holder make the list.  This is how ATA member companies will cure the driver shortage that is fake news but they keep talking about.  Is this something that you want from your next company?  Do driver quit because of the lack of cell phone holders?  The ATA and its member companies have no idea what drivers want.  What about CR England?  All they put in their trucks is extra bunks so more and more drivers can be fit in the truck.  Now up to 3 per truck there.  The ATA in no way represents drivers or has any idea what it is talking about.   Have you watched my YouTube channel? https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBLTOE0xkbIyGFFryPsE0Lg I write a blog.  Read it! https://www.truckinganswersnation.com/blog Ready to get into trucking?  Now is the time.  Sign up for the next webinar! https://www.truckinganswersnation.com/courses.html
